Impossible Animals
Biologist Patrick Aryee presents this action packed series by Offspring Films and Sky Nature. He exposes mysteries across the animal kingdom where habitats on Earth have thrown up different challenges that animals must overcome, pushing their bodies, behaviours and abilities to staggering limits.
They seem to test the very fabric of reality. Our design for the series integrated Patrick’s presentation with hand crafted visualisations of the often complex science behind the animals physiology and behaviours. Using layering of focal depths, the explanatory graphics were designed to evolve in unison with Patrick’s presentation, as if he were personally sketching out the information and his wealth of knowledge directly to the viewer.
To survive in this competitive world many animals have pushed the boundaries of possibility to the limit.
Impossible Animals Kids – For the ten-part Kids series, we designed the graphic explanations and branding to echo the format and styling, but with a particular emphasis on designing and animating bold and immediately understandable explanations that kids would find exciting, engaging and informative. The use of specially designed icons, styled illustrations and strong colour palette played a key role in introducing and arranging the multiple past paced information graphics, whilst maintaining a consistent, coherent and instantly recognisable branded design across the two series.
